Who does Nashville Physical Therapy & Performance love to treat?

At Nashville Physical Therapy & Performance, we are passionate about what we do - keeping active people active. But taking that a step further, what are the top 5 "we love to treat" types of patients? Well, we're happy to answer that for you.

1) We love to treat people who have been told to "just stop doing _________."

If this hasn't happened to you, chances are you know someone it's happened to. Maybe you're a runner and you have knee pain and end up at the Dr's office. They check you out and tell you to stop running and that you probably shouldn't run anymore.

That's not a good answer and definitely not a solution. People should be able to do the things they love. Now, we know there are some extenuating circumstance and situations where stop might be the only solution, but most of the time, that just isn't the case.

As PT's, it's our job to make sure your body moves well, stays strong and that you're able to do all of the things you love. If you've been told before just to "stop" and you didn't like that answer (we don't blame you), we'd love to see you and help you return to your favorite activities.

2) We love to treat people who want to stay active for life.

If we could have a global goal for all people, it would be that they are able to stay active for their entire life. Want to know how to stay young? This is it. The more you keep moving, the more you keep moving! The less you move... well, you get the idea. Remember the old saying "if you don't use it, you lose it?" It's actually pretty true when it comes to staying active.

This means, that if you're having trouble staying active because of pain, stiffness, or injury -- we want to see you!

3) We love to treat people who feel like PT has failed before or they didn't have a good experience.

We are different. We promise. We know other PT's out there say the same thing, but we mean it. We are going to get to know you and find a solution so you can meet your goals. This is why we operate like we do. We don't just get to know your knee, we get to know YOU! Many physical therapy offices don't operate that way. They are seeing too high patient volumes to really spend quality time getting to know the patient and what they need. Your knee pain or your back pain isn't just about your knee or back. It's also about your activity level, your stress level, how you sleep at night, what postures you're in throughout the day, etc. We want to understand YOU so that you have a better experience and outcome.

One of the big things we hear about our patients' experiences when they visit a practitioner is that they don't feel like they have their questions answered or have a good understanding of what to do and what to expect. We strive to be the exact opposite of that. We want to make sure you are heard and know what to expect and what to do.

4) We love to treat people looking for a higher level of 1-on-1 care.

Another big complaint we hear from patients is that practitioners in the past didn't spend any time with them. They got 5 minutes with the Dr or 10 minutes with the PT.

In our book, that is unacceptable. How are we supposed to get to know you, learn about your goals, and find a solution to get you back to doing what you love in 10 minutes? We really can't. We need more time with our patients to really help them and that's exactly what we do. Every single patient gets 45-60 minutes of complete 1-on-1 time with their PT at each and every visit.

5) We love to treat people looking for wellness and preventative options in healthcare.

There is not enough focus on wellness and prevention in the US. Let me say it again for the people in the back... THERE IS NOT ENOUGH FOCUS ON WELLNESS AND PREVENTION!

In the US, we approach medicine with the mindset of fixing problems with our health rather than preventing them. At Nashville PT, we like to shift that focus to wellness and prevention. Now, we obviously still treat patients and fix problems when they arise. I'm not saying we shouldn't do that, obviously people get sick or hurt and we have to treat them. But if we can work to prevent certain things from happening at all, shouldn't we do that too? After we rehab a patient, we want to help them do what they can to prevent reinjury and address any other issues that could cause injuries in the future.

We offer wellness services in addition to our standard PT services. We have things like our Total Body Wellness Assessment where we look at your strength, range of motion, movement patterns, etc to identify any areas of weakness or limitation that could lead to injury and then build a program for you to work on at the gym or at home to address them. Think about it as an annual physical for your musculoskeletal system.

We also offer sport specific wellness visits such as visits for golfers and runners. We even offer gait analysis for our runners who have dealt with chronic issues, about to start training, or are new to running and want to do everything they can to stay injury free.

If any of these resonate with you, then we might just be a perfect fit for you. If you want to learn more about how we can help you or you want to schedule an appointment, call or text us at 615-428-9213 or if you prefer to schedule online, click here.
