About Amy

Amy is a Doctor of Physical Therapy with over 20 years of experience helping active people stay active and performing at their best. She received her doctorate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2005 and earned her Board-Certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) credential in 2010. With advanced certifications in orthopedic manual therapy (COMT) and dry needling (CDN), she brings comprehensive expertise to treating orthopedic conditions from head to toe.

Amy specializes in addressing headaches and foot and ankle injuries, with extensive experience treating young dancers and other active populations. Her passion lies in providing personalized care that gets patients back to the activities they love—whether that's dancing, running, sports, or simply moving pain-free through daily life.

Amy's philosophy is grounded in a fundamental belief: our bodies are designed to move. Healthy lifestyles built on proper diet, fitness, exercise, and hydration can prevent so many injuries and illnesses without relying on medications or surgery. She views physical therapy as preventive care, not just reactive treatment. In fact, Amy believes physical therapists are the musculoskeletal experts and recommends everyone see a PT at least once a year for a comprehensive movement assessment—just as you would see your dentist or primary care doctor regularly.

When patients seek PT at the first sign of pain, imaging, medication, and surgery can often be avoided entirely. Amy is trained to recognize when a condition requires collaboration with other medical providers and makes appropriate referrals when needed. Her approach is simple: Motion is lotion. The more you take care of your body through movement and proper care, the more it will do for you.

Outside the Clinic

Amy was born in Indiana and moved to Knoxville, Tennessee as a teenager. She earned her undergraduate degree from Auburn University and completed her doctorate at UAB. She and her husband have lived in Nashville since 2006 and have two children—a son in high school and a daughter in elementary school. Life is full with school activities, sports including soccer, lacrosse, and gymnastics, but they still make time for vacations and date nights.

Her biggest passions are her faith, family, and friends. She loves traveling the world, trying new cuisines, tasting great wines and good bourbons, and cheering on Auburn sports. Her favorite travel destinations include England and Australia. When she's not treating patients, you'll find her enjoying time with her family or planning her next adventure.

Amy has recently navigated multiple cardiac surgeries due to a congenital heart defect. Experiencing firsthand the global effects of prolonged hospital stays and lack of mobility, she gained profound insights into the power of advocating for your own health. This journey has deepened her commitment to holistic healthcare with a strong emphasis on exercise, movement, and prevention—reinforcing her belief that keeping your body moving is one of the most powerful medicines available.
